Jonathan Jarvis
Dr. Jarvis is an accelerator physicist and technical consultant in the commodity-futures industry. He received his doctorate in physics from Vanderbilt University, where he specialized in the development of high-brightness electron sources and beam-driven radiation generators. His doctoral thesis focused on the development of electron sources for high-power free-electron lasers and received a prestigious national award from the American Physical Society’s Division of Physics of Beams. Dr. Jarvis has since worked, in both academia and industry, on the development of original research programs in accelerator physics. He is the author or coauthor of more than 40 peer-reviewed journal articles and conference proceedings in the aforementioned fields.
Unexpected health complications in his immediate family led him to move to the Chicago area and take the previous year and a half off from physics. During this time he has developed an interest in equity and futures markets. Through application of the skill set that he has developed as an experimental physicist; which includes advanced mathematics, theoretical modeling, scientific computation and research program management; Dr. Jarvis has begun developing algorithmic trading systems that seek to generate and efficiently capture statistical “edge” relative to traditional investment methodologies. He is the creator of the Tempus-System Package, which trades in a variety of domestic and foreign markets and is actively executed at Foremost Trading, LLC. where he is registered with the National Futures Association as an Associated Person. Furthermore, he is actively engaged in the development of a wide variety of other systematic and discretionary trading tools and methodologies. His general interests include astronautics and space exploration, general aviation, taekwondo and a variety of topics in machine learning and artificial intelligence.
